Fun Events In & Around Oakville 17March23

Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh!

That means Happy St. Patrick’s Day in Gaeilge or Irish, the native language spoken in Ireland.

The scenery in Ireland can be described as  something out of a movie. That beauty is captured by the camera in ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ the film that won the Academy Award for Best Movie this week. ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ is a Comedy/Drama, with the drama being easy to spot and the comedy found in the absurdity of it all. The film is a dark dark comedy that gives you much to think about.

If you’ve been a tourist in Ireland you’ll be drawn to the sweaters the Actors’ wear throughout the film. They’re the creation of 85-year-old Delia Barry, a master of her craft. She studied photos of fishermen from the 1920s with a magnifying glass to design the patterns for the film. There’s an article in Country Living about her that you might like  Here’s the Link
