It's Sweet Water Season!
This weekend and the entire month of March is all about Maple Syrup. Visit one of three sites In & Around Oakville. Bronte Creek Provincial Park is having their Maple Syrup Festival and Halton Conservation is holding Sweet Water Season at Crawford Lake and Maple Town at the Mountsberg Conservation Area.
Sweet water season goes back to the 15th century and focuses on the Indigenous heritage of maple sugaring through a series of exhibits at the Longhouse Village. At Bronte Creek 1890s costumed interpreters will demonstrate how to tap maple trees, make maple syrup and maple sugar. Lastly there’ll be taffy made in the snow, pancakes and wagon rides at Maple Town as they tap about 300 sugar maple trees.
Beat the Winter Blues
Beat the Winter Blues in Downtown Oakville beginning this weekend at Towne Square. Adults and children of all ages are invited to play on luminous musical seesaws. Light and music will intensify as the seesaws swing up and down creating an interactive experience.
Join in this Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. There’ll also be fire pits and hot cocoa served from a vintage 1966 airstream courtesy of the Downtown Oakville Cafes. Shopping Downtown Oakville has never been this much fun!

Enjoy a guided tour of Maple Lane with a demonstration of the different historical ways of collecting and making maple syrup. The tour ends in the middle of Spruce Lane Farm, where you can learn how to make fresh maple sugar or enjoy a stick of delicious maple taffy before visiting the various farm animals in the yard.
