Just Because... On Saturday We Celebrate
Saturday August 27th is JUST BECAUSE Day. It’s a day that you can do whatever you please. Why? JUST BECAUSE!
No reason is required. If you want to stay in your pyjamas all day and watch movies that’s OK. Is there a pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing at the mall? Head over and buy them. Call someone you haven’t spoken to in years and just pick up where you left off. Go fishing. Put on your old roller blades and take a spin around the neighbourhood.
It’s a day that you can pay it forward or just do a random act of kindness for someone you know or a complete stranger.
JUST BECAUSE Day was invented in the early 60’s by a man named Joseph J. Goodwin from Los Gatos, California. I don’t think he’s anyone special, just a man who gave a gift of a transistor radio to his wife JUST BECAUSE. Â
Goodwin explained later that it wasn’t as much about the transistor radio as it was about celebrating life and his family. His idea caught on and now we celebrate JUST BECAUSE day on August 27th. Â
