Call out the Marching Bands!
This Sunday is Father’s Day! A day to Celebrate all the GOOD Dads, Step Dads and Father Figures (gender irrelevant). Traditionally in Canada our day includes giving gifts, sharing a meal and pretty much letting Dad do a few of his favourite things.
This weekend the Sound of Music Festival starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the Grande Festival Parade. For over 40 years the parade has opened the festivities. There will be marching bands from across North America, along with whimsical floats and performers. I just love the tapping sound of the drums as the marching band goes by.
Then on Sunday Milton Fair Grounds is the site For the Love of Fathers and Food Trucks it’s the first time for this event to celebrate Father’s Day. There’ll be delicious food, live music, and axe throwing. Yes, I said axe throwing, it’s a real sport and there’s Canadian and World Championships for it. A portion of this years event proceeds will go to the Compassion Society an organization that provides food, clothing and household items to those in need.
